TENUTA SAN BENEDETTO

Our history

“A quality wine is always born in the vineyard, the work in the cellar must only respect the fruit of the earth” so often said great-grandfather Antonio, pioneer of prosecco. He was one of the first producers in the area, in that pleasant and fascinating place that is Valbona. This valley was originally chosen by the Benedictine monks who, many years ago, began to cultivate the vine exactly in those hillsides that the Baldassar family has jealously guarded for years.

The bond that unites us to our land has deep roots, just like our company. In 1899 Santa and Tiziano Baldassar began to cultivate the first vineyards in the Feletto area, a hilly area where the Benedictines had settled centuries before and where, after reclaimed the valley, introduced the cultivation of vines in the Feletto area located on the hills around Conegliano.

In 1915, their son Antonio, and later in the 1950s his grandson Fernando, continued the cultivation of the vineyards and began the winemaking business. They also supplied the first historic “osterie” taverns in Conegliano and some areas of northern Italy, such as Piedmont.

Today, the company is managed by Fernando’s nephew, Andrea Baldassar, an agronomist and wine technician with an important study experience at the University of Viticulture in Montpellier, France.

I think that the combination of past experiences and present innovations, combined with an excellent raw material, can lead to an excellent and high-quality wine. The prosecco we offer is therefore the result of a family winemaking tradition over a century long.

Our territory

Our company is located about 70 km from Venice and 100 km from the beautiful Dolomites and Cortina. We are in one of the most beautiful areas of Italy: in July 2019 it received the crowning of the UNESCO World Heritage Site due to the peculiarities of the area.
